GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
To assist the teaching staff with the school's literacy and writing program and help classroom teachers in their instructional efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Discusses assigned tutoring area with Curriculum Specialist and classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids such as hands-on manipulatives, reading materials, and writing materials
• Presents subject matter to students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques for literacy and writing.
• Attends training workshops.
• Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts by:
• Reading to children
• Modeling strategies for reading and writing
• Assists Curriculum Specialist and teachers with routine tasks such as:
• Organizing student information in cumulative files.
• Gathering resource and supplementary materials
• Fire drills
• Special events
• Student assessments
• Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education, the academic discipline being delivered, or related field; supplemented by a demonstrated aptitude for working with children; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain current Teaching Certification, and all necessary academic certifications for the discipline being delivered.
