Senior Project Manager - Marketing (Temporary 6-month Contract)

Position Summary...

Individuals in this role provide Project Management to the Marketing team including the facilitation of planning and sequencing of work. The Sr. Project Manager provides the following services to the organization: 1) cross-functional project management communication for enterprise-level initiatives; 2) provision of a visible, accessible, and relevant project portfolio; and 3) development and maintenance of tools, techniques, and standards pertaining to the project life cycle.

Note: This is a 6-month temporary position with the possibility for extension, with an average of 15-30 hours per week.

Responsibilities...

  • Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple products and departments
  • Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Establish structure of the project, including identification and creation of project plans, planning and coordination of milestones with cross-functional teams
  • Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
  • Manage all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project
  • Facilitates and documents project team meetings.
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs
  • Manage project scope and changes
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
  • Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication
  • Manage project and program issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline
  • Continue professional development in order to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices
  • Extensive understanding of project management principles, methods and techniques
  • Establish practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the mar keting team.

Education and Experience...

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Education or similar discipline required; MBA or other advanced degree or equivalent work experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum eight years of practical delivery experience in the area of program/project management with demonstrated results.
  • Strong preference for experience in the education technology industry.
  • Two years of experience in agile development environment preferred.
  • Experience in vendor management and contract negotiations.
  • Extensive project management process experience including project analysis, project planning, budgeting, process mapping, scheduling, risk and issue management.
  • PMP certification desired; CSM, SAFe certification a plus.
