POSITION SUMMARY:

The Turnaround Reading Specialist, as an interventionist, works in collaboration with the classroom teacher to promote, develop, and deliver successful mathematics instruction for students with severe gaps in their understanding of essential concepts coupled with mathematical misconceptions. The Mathematics Specialist is responsible for assessing students' performance, providing direct services to students via group and individual instruction, monitoring each student's progress, and making warranted changes, as appropriate. The Mathematics Specialist supports the school's mathematics program through partnership with the instructional coach and administrators by serving as a resource within the school and the community. Applicants should be have a passion and experience with supporting struggling learners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Screen and assess students to establish their performance levels.
  • Implement the program design and mathematics intervention curricular resources with fidelity.
  • Provide intensive instruction to struggling students individually or in small groups within or outside of the students' classrooms.
  • Analyze school and student data and recommend modifications to instruction and interventions for students for meeting and exceeding student achievement goals.
  • Monitor each student's progress and modify instruction to meet their individual needs.
  • Serve as a resource in the area of mathematics for paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, and the community.
  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure student mastery of stanards by assisting with data driven instructional planning, integration of technology and implementation of research based strategies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning as a means of building one's capacity.
  • Plan and facilitate, in collaboration with the instructional coach, professional learning opportunities for school-based personnel.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Knowledge of research-based best practices and interventions in the area of mathematics; ability to promote collaborative planning as a component of school turnaround; ability to analyze student and school data; ability to effectively develop and deliver content-specific professional learning.

Requirements :

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Georgia PSC Certificate in Early Childhood Education required; Reading Endorsement or Reading Specialist certifcation preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years of experience in a K-5 school environment.

High School experience preferred.

Compensation :

Salary Grade: IS 4-7

Salary Range: $45, 761 to $91, 363

Work Days: 202
