JOB GOAL: Provide assistance to the Transportation Director and supervision to Bus Drivers and Bus Attendants as it pertains to student transportation operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must be proficient with computer functions, including Transfinder Software, Microsoft office and excel
  • Must possess strong leadership skills and time management
  • Must possess a valid Arizona CDL and School Bus Certificate with an excellent driving record
  • Must have an excellent attendance record
  • Must be proficient in laws and regulations governing school bus transportation as instituted by the state of Arizona and the Department of Public Safety
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required
  • Required to pass a criminal history background check

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Provides assistance to the Transportation Director and supervision to all Bus Drivers and Bus Attendants engaged in the transportation of students to and from school and curricular trips
  2. Works cooperatively with the Route Coordinator and makes recommendations to plan, review, and ensure accurate schedules and routing for student transportation needs
  3. Reviews sign on and off times for Bus Drivers and Bus Attendants for accuracy in time reporting, mileage and daily compliant vehicle inspections
  4. Works cohesively with the Transportation Dispatcher to schedule route coverage during absences or open routes
  5. Works cohesively with the Driver Trainer to perform monthly check rides with Bus Drivers to ascertain safety compliance and gives recommendations for remedial training when needed
  6. Compiles and provides accurate departmental reports, as requested
  7. Drives a school bus as necessary to ensure continuity and timely delivery of service
  8. Maintains confidentiality of information as it pertains to staff and students
  9. Ensures parents are notified of all route changes in a timely manner
  10. Corresponds with school administrators and parents regarding transportation needs and concerns
  11. Assists with accident/incident investigations and reports
  12. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Transportation Director

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms, stand, bend or stoop. The employee is frequently required to move about the campus. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months, Vacation Days: per policy GDD. General Leave Days: per policy GDCA

COMPENSATION: Per Salary Schedule

BENEFITS: As per District policy

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation

EVALUATION: Initial evaluation to be completed no later than ninety (90) days after the first day of work; thereafter, annually by supervisor.

HOURS: 40 hours per week

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
