ESL Teacher (Bilingual Spanish)

The School District of Waukesha is searching for a talented High School Bilingual Content Area/ESL Teacher with expertise in foundational English literacy, English Language Acquisition and the WIDA Framework. The Ideal candidate will be able to teach in content area in SPANISH and will have demonstrated skill or capacity to LEAD and coach/coteach in our co-service model with regular and dual language educators.

Our ideal candidate must have:

-Must be able to teach content/literacy in SPANISH

-Must have experience in English as a Second Language instruction, leadership and advocacy

-Expertise in Foundational and Second Language literacy development

-Experience in leading professional development and coaching teachers

-Expertise with the WIDA Framework

Qualifications Necessary for Application:

1. Coserving with teachers on a goal focused coaching cycle.

2. Conduct non-evaluative walk-throughs to support building focus and the planning of professional development.

3. Plan and support professional development that is directly connected to the building focus and district focuses in ESL/ Bi-literacy strategies.

4. Support teachers with the educator effectiveness process through student-centered

5. Co-teaching/ co-planning with multiple grade levels.

6. Support building use of data as a measurement and monitoring tool connected to student achievement in relation to language acquisition and Access levels.

7. Assists as a leader on the School- Improvement planning process and lead and facilitate Access testing school-wide, materials, implementation and scheduling.

8. Leads development of Curriculum, including scheduling, training,

9. Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Additionally

Understanding of how to integrate content standards

Understanding of how to utilize Math & ELA Common Core State Standards in a literacy context/ with Access testing.

Ability and experience developing learning paths for students based on need and readiness

Ability and experience with competency/proficiency based learning

Ability to provide and help teams build inquiry based, real-world activities for students

Ability to facilitate and help teams build student-led project frameworks

progress-monitoring, as well as other adaptive, online programs and tools

Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams

Knowledge and practice in teaching in a math and reading workshop framework with supporting ELL learners

Ability to differentiate for varied readiness-levels within a class

Ability to and experience with using varied modalities of facilitating math and literacy
