Director - Career and Technical Education

Job Summary

Administers the total Career and Technical Education program including all CTE courses and career academies.

Essential Functions

1. Supervises and trains assigned Career & Technical Education staff, conducts

performance appraisals, makes employment and discipline recommendations, and

coordinates work assignments.

2. Coordinates existing vocational programs and identifies the need for new programs.

3. Provides in-service training of teachers to update their skills and technical

knowledge.

4. Advises principals and teachers with respect to teacher certification requirements,

program content and student performance standards.

5. Works closely with principals to plan, implement, and sustain career academies and

be well-versed in the National Standards of Practice.

6. Prepares budgets and supervises the effective expenditure of funds.

7. Develops district applications for state and federal vocational funds and other

appropriate alternative funding. Provides grant oversight and supervision.

8. Provides information and technical assistance to schools on local, state and federal

regulations affecting Career and Technical Education programs.

9. Develops and revises curriculum guides and informational products and

disseminates to schools, departments and agencies.

10. Works with Florida DOE Division of Workforce Education, in planning and carrying

out the state-mandated program reviews and other accountability requirements.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: Three (3) years experience in education including classroom teaching, supervising and/or administering of education programs.

Certifications & Licenses: Florida Department of Education Certification in any area. Educational Leadership or Administration/Supervision preferred.

• Knowledge of the purpose and general operation of career and technical education

• Knowledge of district, state, and federal policies, guidelines, laws, and rules related to CTE programs

• Knowledge of current developments and best practices in career and technical education

• Strong supervisory skills

• Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills

$68,000.00 - $102,000.00 / Per Year
