The successful candidate will enthusiastically educate the classroom of young children from prk3 - 8th grade while following the NYS Music Curriculum.
Key functions:
- Inspire, encourage, and develop young children, each of whom will have different abilities, challenges, and personalities.
- Assist in the education of the fundamental concepts needed for general music understanding through the implementation of well planned lessons.
- Encourage students to develop personal styles and express themselves.
- Evaluate assignments - make observations and offer constructive criticism. In addition Grade and maintain records of student performance.
- Think creatively, make good decisions and communicate effectively with others.
- Work effectively in a classroom structure with multiple disruptions.
- Prepare materials for lessons.
- Perform required duties throughout the school day.
- Take direction and work as part of a team.
- Keep organized and sanitize shared spaces.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree (required)
- NYS teacher certification (required)
- Clearances on all required background checks and VIRTUS training (required)
- Patience, compassion, and enthusiasm with children.
- Familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office and other teaching tools.
