The Arc Erie County New York is looking for an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher to join our team to plan and implement adaptive physical education programs for students with developmental disabilities in conjunction with specific IEP objectives. Communicates with parents regarding the program as well as the progress of each child. Prepares and maintains work setting equipment and supplies in accordance with health and safety requirements, attends and participates in parent conferences and team meetings.
Bachelor's Degree and Permanent or Initial NYS Certification in Physical Education OR Master's Degree and Permanent or Professional/Initial NYS Certification in Physical Education PLUS Current certification in Multi Media First Aid or comparable, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation & Advanced Life Saving. Demonstrated skill in formulation and documenting appropriate behavioral objectives for students with developmental disabilities. Must also have a valid NYS Driver's License.
All staff members will assure and demonstrate the promotion of fundamental rights and protections for the people that we support. These include practices that treat people with dignity and respect at all times, ensure safety, best possible health/well-being and provide the person with continuity and personal security through the use of natural supports, positive relationships and opportunities for integration in the community. Staff members should also advocate and work toward assisting the people we support through person-centered planning to achieve the personal outcome goals that they have chosen by facilitating the plans and positive supports necessary to assist the person in progressing toward each outcome. Must demonstrate the agency values of integrity, respect, responsibility, trust, teamwork, positive attitude, learning and honesty in working with students (persons), families, colleagues and members of our community.
Salary is based on experience
