QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field required, with doctoral degree preferred.
  2. Valid Ohio Superintendent credential required. Successful experience as a teacher, building level administrator, and district level administrator.
  3. Such alternatives to the above as deemed appropriate by the Board of Education.

  2. Ability to support district’s vision, articulate a direction and provide leadership for student learning, curriculum, and instruction.
  3. Successful experience implementing and directing academic, extracurricular, and student support programs.
  4. Background understanding of best practices and research-based methods in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  5. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Strong analytical skills, with an ability to engage in systems thinking and planning.
  7. Strong administrative and managerial skills including goal setting, planning, supervision, budgeting, and organization.
  8. Consistent history of self-directed independent work, exercise of sound professional judgment, unquestioned integrity, and high ethical standards. 
  9. Demonstrated ability to integrate technology with academics to enhance student learning.

JOB GOAL:

  1. To assist the Superintendent in providing academic leadership to the District that will provide the best possible learning experience for all students and to support the superintendent in management and overall functionality of the district.
  2. To oversee the day-to-day internal operations of the school district.
  3. Coordinate the efforts of all administrators within the Department of Academics and Student Learning and Department of Human Resources as well as building level administration to ensure alignment within of academic programming and clarity of communications/expectations across the District.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Educational Leadership

  1. Acts in the place of the Superintendent in his/her absence.
  2.  Builds a positive team spirit and a collaborative commitment toward continuous improvement across all facets of the District by working to support the Superintendent, and overseeing the administrators within the Department of Academics and Student Learning, the Department of Human Resources, and building level administration. 
  3. Assist the Superintendent with the development and implementation of district goals for student learning and then coordinates the work of the Department of Academics and Student Learning and the Department of Human Resources, including the development and tracking of Key Performance Indicators, to ensure goal attainment.
  4. Assists the Superintendent by providing oversight of the Department of Human Resources’ goal of maximizing the district’s human capital so as to achieve the mission of the district. 
  5. In collaboration with the Superintendent, works with both the Departments of Operations and the Office of Public Information to ensure alignment of expectations and clarity of communications/expectations across the District.
  6. Promote and support non-traditional, innovative approaches that enhance student learning.
  7. Leads an ongoing effort of completing regular needs assessment and strategic planning with measurable goals by engaging all stakeholders, including staff, students, parents/community, administration, and Board of Education.
  8. Leads development and implementation of district K-12 Career Advisory Plan.
  9. Leads development and implementation of district K-12 Family Engagement Plan. Integrate and balance mandated and district change efforts with organizational and staff capacity and with available time and resources. 
  10. Works in collaboration with district PD committee to ensure development, implementation, and assessment of both short and long-term needs of faculty, building administrators, and direct reports. 
  11. Monitors the effectiveness of district instructional programs to identify and address challenges and opportunities.
  12. Use an array of disaggregated student learning data to promote goal achievement and high standards for all.
  13. Provides expertise and oversight of strategies to increase equity and close achievement gaps across the district.

Management and Administration

  1. Provides commitment and support to the Superintendent in the setting of District priorities and initiatives.
  2. Supervise and direct the work of Executive Director of Human Resources, Elementary and Secondary Directors of Education, Director of Student Operations, Director of Curriculum, Director of Student Services, and Coordinator of Data and Assessment. 
  3. Is responsible for the day-to-day internal operations of the district and acts in place of the Superintendent in the Superintendent’s absence.
  4. Attends all regular and special meetings of the Board of Education and executive or study sessions when requested by the Superintendent.
  5. Represents the Superintendent on all commissions, councils. and committees as assigned.
  6. Prepares reports for the Board of Education as needed.
  7. Communicates and works with building administrators to ensure strict adherence to district policy and guidelines.
  8. Comply with board policy, state statutes and codes, and federal regulations.
  9. Plan, develop, and monitor the instructional program budget and resource allocation.
  10. Attend board meetings, community events, administrative meetings, special events, and prepare reports as needed.
  11. Provides oversight of CCIP process / federal grants. Conducts annual evaluations of direct reports. 
  12. Administers assigned departmental budgets.

Communication and Relationships

  1. Provides timely communication with Superintendent on current district issues.
  2. Communicate and listen effectively with constituents on matters of controversy, problems and complaints, as well as successes, achievements, and celebrations  Use an inclusive, participatory, and collaborative decision-making approach.
  3. Empower staff, parents, and students to set and achieve personal and team goals.
  4. Demonstrate active civic-mindedness and commitment to the Dublin City School district and city of Dublin. 
  5. Exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgement.
  6. Maintain confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times. Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents.
  7. Communicates and works with building administrators to ensure clarity.
  8. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
