Job Description
JOB GOAL:

To oversee and ensure the provision of behavioral support services for students attending the Comprehensive Behavior Intervention Program (CBIP)

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Supervise and support behavioral staff to develop and implement programs and criteria that meet the needs of the whole student.
2.Supervise all staff inclusive of the CBIP Program.
3.In conjunction with principal, complete CBIP staff evaluations
4.Coordinate the development of a Response to Intervention (RTI) model to include both in-school and community supports and interventions, to address social, emotional and behavioral learning.
5.Linking school-wide PBIS initiatives to CBIP Program to facilitate student understanding of expectations to promote integration process.
6.Oversight of the integration process, including implementation of individualized behavioral plans, visuals, token economies and recommendations to ensure that all students are thriving in the least restrictive educational settings.
7.As needed- assess, intervene and provide recommendations during crisis level situations and collaborate with community providers.
8.Oversee the collection of statistical and student data (including behavioral infractions, at-risk forms), in a timely manner and report prior to the submission to the Principal and Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services.
9.Attend Team Meetings (with family and student providers) as necessary to ensure provisions of quality special education and/or related behavioral services.
10.Meet with families and plan community events to promote family and community engagement.
11.Facilitate meetings with relevant community providers to ensure successful partnerships.
12.Ensure that students' Individual Education Programs (IEPs) are being followed and behavioral services are being provided.
13.Keep informed on all legal requirements governing special education.
14.Create and deliver professional development to staff as it relates to clinical/behavioral needs of students.
15.Work collaboratively with all school staff: provide technical assistance, modeling and consultation to better support students exhibiting social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
16.Work with building principal and district level supports to promote academic growth of all students.
17.Aid in classroom development to construct varying areas such as calm down area, small groups and individual seating options etc.
18.Create programmatic protocols, procedures and criteria to best support socio-emotional/ academic growth of all students.
19.Work with relevant district level persons to review potential student profiles to ensure that students meet programmatic criteria.
20.In conjunction with principal, manage disciplinary needs of students.
21.Ensure staff maintains consistent and frequent communication with parents and community partners.
22.Assist Principal or designee to plan and coordinate Extended Year Services (EYS) services for all students who receive programmatic, academic and/or related services during the summer.
23.Assist Principal to plan interview, recommend new hires, and supervise purposeful assignments of staff.
24.Arrange daily coverage and staff room assignments as needed.
25.Maintain accurate, complete and correct student and staff records as required by law, district, policy and administrative regulation.
26.Attend specific meetings (in and out of district) as assigned by the Principal and/or Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services
27.Other duties as assigned by Principal or designee
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Certification in proper area and level by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education (Administrator level licensure)
2. Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferred. Evidence of specific professional
study in the field of special education, psychology, social work, or other related field.
3. Minimum five years' experience in the area of Special Education/Student Services.
4. Knowledge/experience using the MA DESE educator evaluation system.
5. Experience working with community based mental health agencies, Department of Child and Family
Services, Department of Youth Services, Department of Mental Health and other community programs
6. Understanding of requirements for DESE mandated restraint training and experience working with
schools to complete the training process.
7. Excellent communication skills - written verbal and non-verbal.
8. Experience in Crisis Intervention, Individual, Group and Family Interventions and developing Functional
Behavioral Assessments and Comprehensive Behavior Intervention Plans.
9. Excellent interpersonal and social skills with colleagues, district staff, families and community.
