About  Jacksonville:

Jacksonville is a large city in northeastern Florida, where the St. John's River meets the Atlantic Ocean. The Jacksonville metropolitan area has a population of more than 1.5 million and is the fourth largest city in Florida. The region offers locals a laid-back lifestyle, with swimming and surfing at nearby barrier island beaches, camping and hiking in state recreation areas, and opportunities to attend professional sporting events such as the Jaguars NFL games or the PGA Players Championship in nearby Ponte Vedra.

Role Mission: The Regional Director of  Advancement  for  Jacksonville  is charged with cultivating, navigating, and maintaining the external relationships for the fundraising needs to support  regional  growth and  programming .The Director of Advancement-  Jacksonville  is responsible for meeting ambitious  stewardship and board development   goals .These goals are metthrough:a)  best-in-class  cultivation of key constituents  in the  Jacksonville  region  in order to  recruit and onboard a n engaged, diverse regional advisory board  in partnership with the  Jacksonville  Executive Director ; andb) targeted  donor  stewardship through a diverseportfolio ofevents, meetings and school tours.   

This rolewill be supported by a n advancement  operations teamcharged withensuring the appropriate infrastructure is in place to execute  high caliber cultivations and stewardship operationsacross IDEA's regions.Through the  advancement  operations team, the Director of Advancement will have events, data analysis,communications,  and gift processing support.The Director of Advancement will report to the Vice President of Regional Development and sit on a team of fellow regional fundraisers who share best practices, collaborate and have fun together.  

A masterful communicator  and  relationship builder,the Director ofAdvancement ispassionate about educational equity in  Jacksonville  and is a strategic planner and executer.  

Accountabilities:  

1. Raise 
$500,000  to support  pro grammatic needs in  Jacksonville   by June 30, 20 2 2.  
  • B uild relationships with local individuals, corporations and foundations to support  IDEA    
  • Set strategic goals around the number of new  a nd upgraded donors needed in FY2 2  and beyond to create a healthy, sustainable donor base long-term  
  • In partnership with the  Jacksonville  Executive Director, develop an events strategy for the 202 1 -2 2  school year.  
  • Plan and lead at least one local fundraising (or " friendraising ") campaign (e.g. Giving Tuesday, holiday appeal,  etc )  
  • Lead on strategy and planning for any donor-related events: meetings, luncheons, dinners, groundbreakings, etc.  
2. Create a path towards a sustainable donor base in  Jacksonville  by acquiring  20  first time donors who give a minimum of $500 each  by June 30, 2022.    
  • Develop and execute yearly cultivation/stewardship goals and plans for prospects and donors in districts where IDEA schools are operating or planned   
  • Leverage local influencers for connections to prospective local and state donors   
  • Develop individualized cultivation plan for each prospect    
  • Hold personalized stewardship meetings with all  potential     
3. Identify a regional board chair and partner to recruit an additional  6   diverse and mission-oriented  regional advisory board members, 100% of whom give financially, by June 30, 202 2.   
  • Develop and executerecruitment strategyto recruit and onboard  qualified advisory board members who reflect the diversity of the local community  
  • Create individualized annual plans for each board member  
  • Manage all  Jacksonville  regional board correspondence, meeting schedules, agendas and presentations, working with  Jacksonville   Executive Director  to plan a minimum of 3  regional board meetings a year with  9 0%attendance  
4. In support of  staff community involvement  and  to  build enthusiasm and support for  IDEA schools,  90% of IDEA  Jacksonville  staff   engage in  local volunteer  and  civic opportunities.     
  • Identify key community partners and  ways in which IDEA  Jacksonville  staff can  add value through volunteer opportunities    
  • Champion community partnerships for the region and provide appropriate level of detail, preparation, and context for the Executive Director to support cultivation and continued  engagement  
5. Develop a nd execute a strategy, in coordination with the Executive Director, to build community awareness and recognition  through the development of community champions  
  • A community champion is defined as someone who will :  
  • Host an engagement meeting for IDEA staff or prospective families ; or  
  • Connect IDEA with large numbers (50+) of families to support recruitment/enrollment  in the  neighborhoo ds in which IDEA will open schools .

K nowledge and Skills:  
  • Ability to synthesize multiple facts, data points, and stories into compelling narrative explaining IDEA's educational vision for the region to others  
  • Communication- ability to explain IDEA's story, program, vision and accomplishments  in  Jacksonville  to  a diverse group of constituents, prospects, and funders  
  • Superior writing ability and attention to detail  
  • Knowledge ofthe Jacksonville civic and  philanthropic landscape includingvarious philanthropic organizationsandbusiness development organizations  

Qualifications: ​  
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree  preferred  
  • 5years of experience in a development,fundraising, grant writing,grant managementor similar role  
  • Proven track record of personally achieving success  
  • Belief in IDEA's mission and an understanding of what it takes to achieve the goal of college for all children  

Compensation:  
  • Salaries for this role typically fall between $82,000 and $100,000 commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications.
