Additional Information: The Project Manager will organize, manage, and plan the development, implementation, monitoring, and refinement of District-wide strategic initiatives. The Project Manager will interface with various departments and divisions across the District to support and manage projects in order to integrate changes to technical, academic and operational systems, structures and training programs. This includes coordinating resources and timelines across multiple district divisions and initiatives, grant or special projects, overcoming challenges and ensuring that project deadlines and timelines are met.
This position reports to the Enterprise Applications Director

Summary:
This position plans and manages the development of projects and system enhancement from concept through implementation; makes decisions on the project specifics; advocates for the use of project management best practices, standards, and processes to support the District's efforts; is responsible for the success of District wide initiative using project management processes.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manages multiple projects as assigned by the Project Management Office for District-wide initiatives; plans project activities from project concept through implementation; oversees projects for cross-departmental functions and cross-building initiatives extending into community coordination, as project dictates; develops and manages project schedules, resource plans, scope, project budget, project risk and communication plans with appropriate input from business and technical staff for the purpose of planning and managing the development of projects.
  2. Participates in project feasibility efforts, including technology and business area research, requirements facilitation, cost benefit analysis, and development of RFIs for the purpose of making decisions on project specifics and advocating project management best practices.
  3. Ensures that Project and Product deliverables meet internal District established standards; facilitates agreement on deliverable format and content with appropriate stakeholders where no standards exist; establishes systems for documenting and retaining new standards, processes and templates for future projects for the purpose of making decisions on project specifics and supporting District's efforts.
  4. Coordinates project planning activities with appropriate stakeholders, functional leads and appropriate technical teams aligning new efforts with current and planned systems; verifies accuracy of scope and estimates and informs other teams of potential impacts to their respective areas due to project efforts for the purpose of managing the development of projects and system enhancements.
  5. Communicates the project status with key stakeholders, Cabinet members and Administrators; is accountable for the success of District-wide change using project management processes for the purpose of supporting the District initiative.

  2. Manages special projects; may train new employees, as directed, and performs related duties as assigned, on a temporary basis.
  3. Regular, reliable, predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.

CONDITIONS
Experiences frequent interruptions; required to travel to District and other sites within the community; may require occasional travel outside of the District; required to work extended or flexible hours as needed; may be required to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, climb, and/or be mobile.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; five years of increasingly responsible project management experience; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.
Licenses/Special Requirements
Valid Washington State driver's license.
A credential in Project Management is desirable.
Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/sexual misconduct clearance.

Allowable Substitution
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be evaluated by the Human Resources Department for comparability.
