Description :
This administrator coordinates special programs in the Curriculum, Special Education, and Personnel offices to support our District operations and goals.
Position Details :
  • Bargaining Unit: Orchard Park Central Office Administrators
  • Salary: Negotiable
  • Work Year: Twelve (12) Months
Responsibilities :
  • Manage financial aspects of the Curriculum and Special Education offices including:
    • Medicaid reimbursement.
    • Federal Grants.
  • Oversee student enrollment process including:
    • Residency verification.
    • Proof of immunization.
  • Work collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel & Pupil Services to:
    • Facilitate the development of specific action and implementation plans for special education subgroup student populations focused on student growth and achievement.
    • Oversee the 504 and medical plans of students to ensure consistency district-wide in accordance with education laws and regulations.
    • Administer the home instruction of students.
    • Supervise the school nurses, adherence to school health regulations (i.e. required school screenings, immunization requirements, etc.).
  • Work collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Pupil Services to:
    • Facilitate the development of specific action and implementation plans for subgroup student populations centered on student achievement.
    • Organize, plan, and communicate professional development opportunities for District staff.
    • Seek additional sources for funding (i.e. grants), and maximize financial efficiencies through collaboration with other districts and/or BOCES.
    • Co-facilitate Superintendent's Conference Days with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Pupil Services and manage the logistical details for district-wide training and conference days (i.e. securing speakers, communicating plans with staff, preparing feedback surveys, etc.).
    • Facilitate the New Teacher Academy Program, and support the New Teacher Orientation Program.
  • Work collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction, the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel & Pupil Services, and the Special Education Director to support the Response to Intervention model through:
    • The promotion of effective, evidenced based tiered interventions
    • The universal screening process
    • The application of data to make decisions on interventions and student support services.
  • Assist with the oversight of the UPK program
  • Conduct teacher observations, as assigned, to assist central office and building level administrators in accordance with APPR regulations and locally negotiated plans.
  • Actively participate in our District Leadership Council (DLC) and Professional Development Council (PDC) and/or Special Education Leadership Council as requested.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications :
  • Valid NYS School District Administrator (SDA or SDL).
  • Minimum education level of a Master's Degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of 504 Accommodations, Special Education regulations and the Committee for Special Education process preferred.
  • Knowledge of McKinney-Vento Homeless Student Act, enrollment and school registration regulations and procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of the District's CDEP and major goals and initiatives including those related to: ELA & Mathematics, Response to Intervention, assessments, and the NYS and Common Core Learning Standards.
  • Previous administrative leadership experience preferred.
  • Previous grant writing and/or budget oversight experience preferred.
