Farmington Alternative High School Teacher / Coordinator (1.0 FTE)
Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Job Description: Farmington Alternative High School is a small program, serving primarily juniors and seniors who are recommended because of credit deficiency, risk of dropping out of school, school avoidance, or social/emotional issues that interfere with academic success. This position requires a range of skills including good interpersonal communication, an understanding of adolescent development, the ability to solve problems creatively, a positive and optimistic outlook, and flexibility. Must show a passion for helping academically and/or emotionally challenged students.
Job Responsibilities:
Qualifications: Must be eligible for State of CT secondary certification in a subject area. Preference to those who hold certification in Special Education (065, 165, 265). Preference to those who hold or are eligible to obtain their 092 certification.
Salary: $49,020 - $104,599 depending upon education and experience

Job Responsibilities:
- Creating and maintaining a safe and inviting environment for all students
- Teaching some classes: ASPIRE, electives, Heath/PE, and Independent Study courses
- Facilitating meetings, including parent, core team, academic and support team
- Planning and implementing professional development for academic and support teams
- Coordinating delivery of student services, including developmental guidance, special education, and social work
- Managing academic and behavioral plans for all students
- Creating college and career readiness plans and developing post-secondary goals
- Communicating regularly with parents
- Planning family involvement events, student field trips, community service, and student internships
- Coordinating logistical aspects of the operation of the school, including transportation, lunches, annual budget, safety drills, and supplies
- Must hold a Connecticut V-Endorsement driver's license or willingness to obtain it
