Ability to organize, supervise, and evaluate the work of subordinate employees. Ability to perform the tasks of all subordinates. Ability to prepare and maintain necessary records and reports. Ability to skillfully operate all custodial equipment assigned. Ability to work well with others. Ability to comply with all safety rules and regulations applicable to the work which is assigned.

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

This is a supervisory position in the care and cleaning of large school buildings and grounds. Work involves directing all custodial operations including training, record keeping, ordering cleaning supplies, and preparing work orders. The position is assigned to the night shift in order to supervise custodial employees and be responsible for securing the building. This position is responsible for a large staff of subordinate workers or coordinates work efforts of custodial staff through a subordinate supervisor. Work is performed with latitude for independent judgment and action Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

7.5 hours/day

An essential function of this position is the ability to work in person and physically report for work.

This position will work second shift from August through June and first shift during the summer months. This position will work days until August, 2021.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

Include, but are not limited to, the following. Determines work schedules and plans, organizes, supervises, and occasionally participates in the work of custodial employees engaged in custodial maintenance activities. Inspects school buildings to ensure that they are adequately cleaned. Trains and instructs custodial workers in the proper use and operation of equipment, materials, and techniques in the custodial field. Prepares a ground maintenance plan. Evaluates the performance of custodial personnel. Develops summer cleaning schedules for refurbishing school buildings. Acts as a receiving agent after normal school hours. Evaluates and assists in the selection of new cleaning products, equipment, and materials. Ensures that ample cleaning supplies are available to custodial crews. Maintains custodial reports, time records, inventories, and ledgers. Secures or locks schools buildings and equipment. Changes, repairs, or replaces all school combination locks. Activates safety alarm for fire drill exercises. Raises and lowers flags. Removes ice and snow from walkways, entrance ways, and steps. Performs other duties as assigned.

SALARY: Hiring Range: $39,962 - $54,728/year ($21.31 - $29.19/hour)

DAYS: 250

FULL TIME/PART TIME: Full Time
