Essential Functions and Objectives:

The School Counselor promotes and enhances the learning process for students through an integration of academic, personal/social, and post-secondary development. Contributes to and/or manages the School Counseling Program using the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. Counsels students regarding educational issues such as course and program selection, class scheduling, school adjustment, truancy, study habits, and college/career planning. Counsels individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational or vocational situations. Delivers counseling services through classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling. Analyzes data and uses results to inform stakeholders and continuously improve programs.

Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications:

- Must possess a valid Colorado Department of Education Special Service Provider License - School Counselor.

- Previous High School counseling experience preferred.

- This applicant must have a minimum of three years' experience of successful high school counseling or college advising.

- This applicant must have knowledge of the Early College model at the state level, including the model in Denver Public Schools.

- This applicant must be well-versed in what it means to be a college advisor.

- Must be able to demonstrate that they have contributed to and have implemented highly-functional systems and structures aligned to the ASCA model.

- Bi-lingual in Spanish is highly preferred.

Skill Requirements:

- Counselor - Master's Degree
- Counselor - Endorsement

C redential Requirements:

- Special Service Initial License
- Special Service Professional License

Education Requirements:

- Master's degree in school counseling, psychology or related field.
