East Ridge Middle School is a 6-8 school located in Chattanooga, TN. We are a diverse school built on the pillars of engaging, relating, motivating, and serving each and every child in the school building. From academics to athletics, the students at ERMS will be engaged year-round.

The teachers at ERMS go above and beyond to reach their students, from allowing students to come for tutoring in the morning to staying late in the evening to coach a sport. Our teachers bend backwards to make the student's middle school experience the best possible. We are a diverse community and racially we are 30 percent African American, 30 percent Hispanic, 30 percent white, and 10 percent other.

East Ridge Middle School is looking for teachers that have a growth mindset. East Ridge is looking for teachers that have high expectations for ALL children. It is important to us that find teachers who have "heart" and are passionate about working with students.


  1. Teaching & Learning - Deeply understand the Tennessee Science Standards and establish clear learning targets for every lesson. Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently engage students with science and engineering practices (SEPs). Follow Hamilton County Schools' instructional framework, including:

    • Setting High Expectations
    • Building a Productive Classroom Culture
    • Responsive Teaching and Learning
  2. Classroom Culture: Build a safe and productive classroom culture. Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset.
  3. Family & Community: Consistently develop strong relationships with students' families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children. Provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their children's learning.
  4. Professional Responsibilities: Actively participates in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues in order to improve teaching and student learning. Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.

  • Teaching candidates must hold a valid state of Tennessee teaching certification in 6-8 Science, 6-12 Science or be an upcoming graduates in an accredited teacher preparation program. If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must apply for a Tennessee teaching license.
  • Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree.
