Job Description

ELEMENTARY AT KIPP DC:

KIPP DC elementary schools are committed to building joyful classrooms with rigorous instruction that prepares students for success in middle school and beyond. Teachers cultivate a love of learning through balanced literacy and math instruction, build confidence and self-advocacy through classes that highlight students' talents and passions, and ensure that all students receive the targeted support they need through meaningful intervention and support. Elementary classrooms provide a space for all students to feel like they are loved and belong; our teachers work alongside families to support students as they learn the social-emotional skills and strategies to navigate the classroom, school, and the world around us.

Through best-in-class professional development, weekly content and coaching support, and a culture of data analysis and reflection, teachers work collaboratively with their peers to become better in their craft and to meet the needs of each of their students. Teachers receive regular feedback and support from teacher leaders, school-based literacy coaches, a regional math coach, a vice principal assigned to their grade level or content area, and other members of our network academic support team. In addition to content support, teachers have access to extensive professional development both within their school and the network.

We are seeking exceptional elementary teachers to be a part of the founding team for our newest elementary school for the 21-22 school year. Our school is currently in the process of being named by staff and families at our existing middle school on the Wheeler Campus.

Principal Donyale Butler seeks founding teachers who are committed to building a school founded in community, equity, and excellence. Our school will be a joyful, purposeful, and loving place for all who enter our building. We will support and celebrate each other as we commit to responding to our students' academic and social-emotional needs as a team. We are willing to put in the hard work of reflecting on our instructional practices as well as our own mindsets and habits in order to provide the best education possible for our students.
