Special Education Teacher
Salary - $45,000 minimum, final salary dependent upon education and experience
Anticipated School Locations: Slade Elementary School
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold, or be eligible to hold, a certificate issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement as a K-12 special education teacher.
Other desired qualifications include: excellent knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and procedures; ability to work with students with emotional disabilities; experience working with evidence-based materials, practices, and curriculum, response to intervention methodologies, and positive behavior intervention and support systems; ability to work well with high school students; knowledge of high school curriculum, standards, and benchmarks; knowledge and understanding of writing and application of measurable goals and data collection systems for screening, benchmarking, and progress monitoring; willingness to work with teachers to plan cooperatively to benefit students; excellent classroom management skills; willingness to participate in the functional behavioral assessment process and in the development and implementation of positive behavior intervention plans; ability to collaborate and support existing curricular programs and identify when instructional interventions are warranted; strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills; good public relations skills in dealing with professional and support staff and parents; ability to supervise and work effectively with paraprofessionals; and willingness to participate on school and district committees and in required inservice activities.
