  1. Iowa Certification. Elementary Teaching Endorsement & Administrative Endorsement
  2. MA required
  3. Administrative experience preferred.
  4. Participation in professional growth activities.
  5. Development and presentation of staff development activities
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent/Superintendent

SUPERVISES: Building Staff

JOB GOAL: Provide leadership and supervision to facilitate the educational program offered in the building and the academic and personal development of each student enrolled in the building.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


Instructional Leadership :
  1. Completes the formal evaluation of staff according to district guidelines identified in the "Teacher Evaluation Handbook".
  2. Understands and applies effective observation and conferencing skills.
  3. Identifies and supports the effective teaching of staff.
  4. Assists the Director of Human Resources in the selection and supervision of all staff certified and support staff assigned to the building
  5. Establishes standards for student behavior and enforces discipline procedures according to district guidelines.
  6. Is knowledgeable of and can design alternative organizational patterns and schedules for the building.
  7. Assists in the development, revision, supervision and evaluation of the building's curriculum.
  8. Monitors the curriculum to ensure that the appropriate content and sequence are followed.
  9. Participates in the district's curriculum review process and works with district personnel to facilitate building curriculum changes
  10. Supervises and monitors the instructional program of the school.
  11. Serves on district committees.
  12. Develops schedules for the use of Thursday early release teacher inservice time.
  13. Provides collaborative leadership in implementing a school improvement process.
  14. Understand the process of consensus building and applies that process both as a leader and as a member of a group.
  15. Identifies with staff the decision-making procedures the school will follow.
  16. Supervises the development and implementation of school improvement plan.

Chief Building Administrator:
  1. Leads the development and implementation of building level important goals.
  2. Coordinates building activities, goals and efforts to ensure their consistency with district level activities, goals and efforts.
  3. Prepares and administers the school's budget.
  4. Supervises the collection and maintenance of all required school records and reports.
  5. Facilitates and coordinates the planning and organization of all school activities.
  6. Assumes responsibility for the implementation of the negotiated agreement and all Board Policies and Administrative Regulations.
  7. Plans and supervises all emergency drills and procedures.
  8. Assists in the development of and approves teachers' daily schedules
  9. Develops special area schedules for the building
  10. Supervises and evaluates volunteers and volunteer activities in the school.
  11. Establishes and encourages parent involvement in school projects and activities.
  12. Works to maintain an active parent support group for the building.
  13. Assumes responsibility for the attendance, behavior and health of students while they are participating in school activities.
  14. Secures support services to meet identified needs of students.
  15. Provides support and supervision for all extracurricular programs of the building.
Site Manager:
  1. Manages the operation and maintenance of the building.
  2. Follows district procedures to make facility and maintenance needs known.
  3. Establishes five year plans for capital outlay and physical plant needs.
  4. Works with the Director of the Physical Plant in providing supervision of custodial and maintenance
personnel working in the building.
Professional Responsibilities:
  1. Effectively communicates with students, faculty, staff, parents, community, colleges and central administration.
  2. Assumes responsibility for professional growth through membership and participation in professional organizations, enrollment in university courses, attendance at professional meetings and the reading of professional journals and other publications.
  3. Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent or assistant superintendent.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-Month year. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
