QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Iowa Administration and Evaluator approval license
  2. MA in Educational Leadership
  1. Successful secondary administrative experience
  2. Experience in construction oversight preferred
  1. Evidence of recent professional growth
  2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.


REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent

SUPERVISES: Assistant Principal, Dean of Students, Teachers, Athletic Director and support staff

JOB GOALS: The Principal will supervise, coordinate, and improve the activities of the senior high school in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child. Provide leadership which will motivate instructional and service personnel to strive for superior performance, and implement the policies of the Board of Education, district administration, and the School Board.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To ensure the proper integration of athletics, academics, and extracurricular programs.
  2. Development, assessment, and maintenance of the Curriculum and other instructional materials.
  3. To develop, implement, and maintain student activities.
  4. To evaluate and assess the teacher's classroom techniques, interpersonal skills, classroom management, and work ethic.
  5. To assess the qualified applicants and assign them to the positions that they are most suited for.

  1. Assisting in the creation, distribution, and the compliance of the Negotiated Agreements for staff members.
  2. Ascertaining Professional Development in the realms of Curriculum and Instructional Strategies for staff and students.
  3. To observe and review the performance of staff personnel to provide a basis for effective counseling and optimum performance.
  4. To review periodically the educational philosophy and objectives of the school in cooperation with the teachers and members of the school community.
  5. To participate in the selection, orientation, and in-service training of staff.
  6. Assist in the annual budget for the school and school sponsored programs.
  7. Determine and oversee all facility improvement plans within budget guidelines.
  8. Be the foremost relations expert, including public, community and parental relations.
  9. To make recommendations to the superintendent concerning policy, practice, procedure, and personnel.
  10. Acts as a liaison for the programs that are sponsored or affiliated with the school such as the Athletic Boosters, PSTO, Alumni Association, Building Vertical Team, etc.
  11. Authorizes and administers all Fund Raising Requests, Field Trips, and Guest Speakers.
  12. Handles school related publicity.
  13. Collaborates with Educational Service Center administrators to implement district level initiatives.
  14. Other duties as assigned.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month, 260 day contract. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District's policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
