JOB GOAL
Assist/Support teachers in providing English language Arts and Reading Instruction to accelerate English Language Proficiency for EL s participating in the ESL Program using the TEKS and ELPS through the application of sh eltered instruction strategies. Maintain appropriate documentation.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience (Preferred)
• Valid Texas Educator Certification in the s ubject and grade level (Preferred)
• Valid Texas ESL/Bili ngual Supplemental Certification (Preferred) D UTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools.
• Implements procedures and coordinates the process to identify EL students at all grade levels campus- wide, including review of student data and testing of students.
• Ensures that campu s effectively implements ESL program meet district program goals.
• Maintains and completes all EL documentation in a timely manner, and that all records are kept confidential in accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines, state, federal laws (FERPA).
• U pdates the school database in a timely manner to reflect accurate data of EL students, including EL denials and monitoring year 1 thru 4 students for FSP submissions.
• Trains all parents, administrators, teachers and staff on the Language Proficiency As sessment Committee (LPAC) in accordance with TEA and ensures they understand and comply with confidentiality of students in accordance with both state and federal laws.
• Plans , prepares, and facilitates the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) meeti ngs.
• T rains , coach es , and supports teachers in developing and implementing lesson plans that meet the district's and TEA's curricular requirements (TEKS and ELPS) and linguistically accommodate and differentiate the commensuration of the language proficiency l evel of the EL students.
• Trains , coach es , and supports teachers in completion of documentation regarding English L anguage learners using the ELPS and PLDs of students.
• T rains , coach es , and supports teachers in implementing a variety of instructional materials, te chnology tools and digital learning platforms to enhance learning and language proficiency development.
• Assists school administration in scheduling classes for ESL instruction.
• Monitors ELs' academic and linguistic progress that is reflected in the formativ e and summative evaluations to ensure students meet desired educational goals and use assessment results to coordinate ESL instruction and schedule.
• Compiles , maintains , analyzes , submits and files all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required by the district, state and federal laws.
• Ensures ESL classroom(s) and/or instructional environment is safe, organized and conducive to learning, with accessibility to all students.
• Establish es and maintains communication, both written and oral, w ith parents, students, principals, and teachers to keep them informed of student progress.
• Collaborates with district personnel, Region al service centers, and other professionals to carry out school wide instructional or related activities for E L students an d their parents to better educate them on EL services and programs.
• Collaborates with other content teachers and special education teachers to ensure E L student's language and instructional needs are being met.
• Advocates for English L anguage learners to en sure they have an equitable educational opportunity.
• Continually communicates with students on instructional expectations and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations.
• Plans and conducts parent meetings (i.e. conferences with the parents of EL denial students), failing monitor students, and exited EL students.
• Participates in professional development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.

• Administers Oral language proficiency and Achievement tests to determine student eligibility for E L Programs and analyzes district assessments to determine placement in E L program.
• Partici pates as TELPAS rater, TELPAS verifier, and provides training and supplemental support to other raters as needed.
• Provides ESL instruction as assigned by the campus principal.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
• Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
• Ability to analyze data
• Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem- solving skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Light Work: may require occasi onal light lifting.
• Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
• Position is in classroom setting and requires intermittent speaking, standing, walking and writing.
• Moderate travel is required.
