Description

  • Assist with coordinating transportation department operations, including standardization of procedures and methods used in the service center shops.
  • Oversee and assign work to be completed by the shop foreman, lead technicians, and parts technicians for district transportation service centers.
  • Develop and implement quality control measures for shop operations and ensure timely completion of work.
  • Assist with the development and ensures preventive maintenance is performed appropriately on all district vehicles in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and promote safety in the shop by ensuring established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc. are followed
  • Assist with making sound recommendations relative to personnel hiring, placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining, and scheduling continued training for employees and orientation for new employees.
  • Assist with the compiling, maintaining, and filing of all reports, records, and other documents required for fleet services.
  • Understands and enforces all laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies as it relates to the transportation of district students and staff.
  • Operate buses and other vehicles.
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings as needed
  • Manages and provides reports for data imported into Fleetvision and Fuel Master
  • Manages the day to day operations for the shop foremen and communication supervisor.
  • Manage the day to day operations for the Fleet Data Specialist.
  • Perform duties in the absence of shop foremen and communication supervisor when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Fleet Services.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) required; an associate degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Clear and valid Texas Commercial Driver's license (Class B with a Passenger [P] and School Bus [S] endorsement or obtain in 90 days of employment.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience over a vehicle maintenance facility.
  • Four (4) years of experience in diesel and automotive repairs and services.
  • Ability to manage and mentor assigned personnel in a positive and helpful manner.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage quality staff development in fleet/technical training areas.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety associated with this trade.
  • Knowledge of purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft, Excel; fleet maintenance programs and fuel management systems.
  • Follows District and Transportation Department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures.
  • Ability to manage personnel.
