Business Manager
  • Qualifications: Demonstrate ability in management of business affairs, including such areas as payroll, accounting, and management of employee benefits programs.
    • Very strong computer skills (i.e. Excel, Accounting software). Working knowledge of Software Unlimited Accounting Software program, preferred.
    • Degree or equivalent training in accounting or related field.
    • Consideration given for experience with the State of Wyoming's current education funding model.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to deal with a wide variety of people in and out of the district.
    • Any alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports To: Superintendent or designee

Supervises: Business Office Staff, Warehouse Staff, School Nutrition and Food Service Director, and Transportation Supervisor

Job Goal: To administer the business affairs of the District in such a way as to provide the best possible educational services with the financial resources available.

Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Assumes responsibility for budget development and long-range financial planning.
  2. Supervises all accounting operations.
  3. Supervises the collection, safekeeping, and distribution of monies for all funds.
  4. Manages the district's property, liability, and insurance programs.
  5. Administers a budget control system for the district.
  6. Acts as advisor to the superintendent on all questions relating to the business and financial affairs of the district.
  7. Supervises the Business Office personnel (including Central Office clerical, financial, warehouse, and support staff personnel).
  8. Supervises the Transportation Supervisor and the associated oversight of that department.
  9. Supervises the District School Nutrition and Food Service Director and the associated oversight of that department.
  10. Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating all staffing of assigned departments.
  11. Interprets the financial concerns of the district to the community.
  12. Supervises the management of financial and business affairs of the district, including handling of funds, accounting and reporting procedures, and record keeping. This pertains to general fund, as well as, special education funds and state and federal grants.
  13. Assumes responsibility for accounting adequate to record, in detail, all financial transactions, including financial transactions, including collection, safekeeping, investment and disbursements of the district.
  14. Is responsible for, either directly or indirectly, accounts payable for all funds.
  15. Assists as needed in the preparation of payroll and related reports.
  16. Is responsible for maintaining internal control and arranging for external audits.
  17. Prepare financial and statistical reports as required by the Board and State/Federal agencies.
  18. Supervises the developments and administers administration the operation of on-going inventory systems, including fixed assets and computer software procedures.
  19. Helps prepare and/or oversees all bid documents including notice to bidders, instruction to bidders, specifications and forms of proposals.
  20. Compiles necessary statistical data for preparation of the fiscal budget.
  21. Assists the superintendent in preparation of the annual budget and administers a budget control program.
  22. Coordinates office operations with district policy, state, and federal regulations.
  23. Attends such conventions, conferences, and training sessions as are necessary to keep abreast of changes and trends in all areas related to this position.
  24. Administers the district's 403(b) plan
  25. Updates the district's fiscal policies
  26. Monitors legislative impacts on Wyoming School foundation program and funding.
  27. Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

Terms of Employment: Designated by Contract

Evaluation: Superintendent or in accordance with the provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
