DESCRIPTION :
Under the direction of the Principal, the Student Behavior Improvement Specialist will assist with the development and implementation of a comprehensive behavior intervention and assessment plan for the school that is aligned to Illinois State PBIS Program requirements, which include personal/social development of students to maximize achievement.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Illinois teacher, social work or counselor certification Preferred
- Certification in Restorative Practice and Positive Behavior Facilitation (PBF)
- Computer skills necessary to generate data graphs and reports
- Experience working with at risk students
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge of:
- Illinois Learning Standards
- PBIS Universal, Secondary, and Tertiary Levels
- Seventeen (17) classroom management strategies
- School improvement
- Restorative Practice and PBF
- Experience and expert training skills in effective behavior interventions including school-wide classroom and individual student behavior intervention plans
- Proficient in Excel and Word
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Manage multiple components of program development, training, technical assistance, and evaluation tasks
- Implement intense student support
- Collect and manage data

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : (Essential Job Functions)
- Expand and sustain implementation of PBIS
- Assess training needs and connect with PBIS Network Technical Assistance Coordinator (TAC)
- Support research for PBIS and provide technical assistance for implementation
- Collaborate with PBIS Network to connect students, families, service organizations, and schools to meet student and family needs
- Participate in district and building level team meetings
- Comply with all district/school policies, practices and procedures
- Support building level team meetings by providing technical assistance (meeting dates, calendar tasks, agenda, communication with staff, etc.)
- Assist with PBIS action plan development at all three tiers
- Provide on-going support and technical assistance to Internal Coaches (Building Level Leaders)
- Monitor the progress of PBIS teams
- Insure that school-wide data collection systems are established
- Collect data to share with the Principal and applicable leadership team
- Provide technical assistance on school-wide data analysis
- Provide technical assistance on the use of secondary interventions
- Provide training in Restorative Practice and PBF
- Use training and expertise to support students with behavior issues impacting academic achievement
- Be a member of the secondary Summer School staff to support appropriate behavior interventions
- Participate in appropriate training
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Inside/outside office environment
- Some travel within the district
- Frequent standing, sitting, walking, and lifting up to approximately 24 pounds
