POSITION : SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

DUTIES :
A substitute teacher is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitute teachers must implement teacher lesson plans, assign student class work and homework, maintain classroom control and discipline. In some cases substitute teachers may be required to complete a daily report or evaluation to communicate any pertinent information resulting from the day's events. Substitutes must have teaching capabilities and able to follow oral and written directions. Establishing effective working relationships with staff and students is very important.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree. Official sealed college transcripts will be required upon hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand and reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, and crouch. Duties may involve risk resulting from attending to students' behavioral needs.

SALARY :
The Substitute Teacher title is a per diem (on demand) position with the Buffalo Public Schools. The daily rate of pay starts at $112. Substitute Teachers are required to work a minimum of 20 full days per school year to retain employment.
