The Department of Internal Audit provides audit services for both Henrico County General Government and Schools. Henrico County General Government currently has more than 30 agencies. Department Heads are appointed by the County Manager , with the exception of the elected constitutional officers. General Statement of Duties:
Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, March 8, 2021.
Performs moderate to complex professional audits or investigations on all County activities (for both General Government and Schools with an emphasis on Schools) in general or on specific operations involving either financial, performance, management, or Technology areas, with reports or results and recommendations to top management; does related work as required.

Essential Duties:
Considerable knowledge of Government Auditing Standards (GAO), Internal Auditing Standards (IIA) and General Accepted Auditing Standards (AICPA), plus generally accepted Governmental Accounting Principles (GASB, NCGA) and current business practices; proven skill in applying auditing procedures; ability to research laws, regulations and policies; proven skill in developing audit objectives and testing procedures and the ability to review, document and evaluate internal controls; considerable knowledge of and proven skill in the use of computers, especially personal computer software and audit software applications; ability to prepare coherent, cogent reports on auditing results; ability to deal effectively with a variety of personalities and to establish and maintain effective working relationships; proven ability to function effectively within a team environment; diplomacy and tact; ability to exercise good judgment; ability to work independently and negotiate but not be easily swayed in judgment or course of action.

Minimum Qualifications:
Auditor I: Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting with two (2) years of professional accounting or auditing experience; OR , any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. (Salary range: HP.24 $46,339 - $85,243)
Auditor II: Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting with three (3) years of professional accounting or auditing experience (preferably with or progressing to CPA, CIA or CISA); OR , any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. (Salary range: HP.26 $50,895 - $93,624)
Auditor III: Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting or information Technology with four (4) years of professional accounting, auditing or information Technology auditing experience (preferably with or progressing to CPA, CIA or CISA); OR , any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. (Salary range: HP.28 $55,898 - $102,828)

Additional Information:
This position may be hired at the Auditor I, II or III level depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate and the needs of the department at the time of hire.
Possession of a valid driver's license. Possession of designation as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) or CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) is preferred.
A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
