The Office of Student Services (OSS) is responsible for providing a variety of supports and services to students in Cambridge Public Schools (CPS). Our programs are dedicated to ensuring equitable access and success for students with disabilities and students who have advanced learning needs. The Office of Student Services is comprised of special education, 504 services and the office of advanced learning.

The Role:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Provide training to staff regarding proper implementation of behavioral programming, classroom management skills, teaching strategies, curricular adaptations and modifications, and data collection to improve student learning.
  • Determine appropriate goals/objectives for students and design effective skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs to make progress towards these goals
  • Monitor and support the implementation and effectiveness of skill acquisition and behavior reduction programming, and make changes/recommendations to enhance progress
  • Provide regular consultation services to teachers and support staff
  • Facilitate inclusion opportunities into the general education setting and community settings
  • Participate in team meetings, including but not limited to IEP meetings, re-evaluations, progress meetings, and school-home carryover meetings
  • Collaborate with all team members, including teaching and support staff, Office of Special Education staff, specialists, parents, and outside organizations
  • Collaborate with specialists to implement procedures within the classroom setting to assist with carryover of skills targeted in therapy sessions
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments, prepare and analyze results
  • Write and monitor behavior support plans
  • Provide training to parents regarding proper implementation of behavior management strategies
  • Conduct home visits as needed to assist with implementation of specific home programming and generalization of skills acquired in the school setting
Your Skill Set :
As the incoming ETS Behavior Specialist you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Preferred MA Certification: Teacher, Special Educator, Adjustment Counselor, School Psychologist
  • Knowledge of and experience working with students with social, language, and behavioral deficits
  • Strong working knowledge of behavioral principles
  • Experience with adaptive technology
  • Experience working in a public school setting preferred
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • LCSW License
  • School social worker/school counselor
