This job posting is an invitation to apply to become the next superintendent of Westfield Washington Schools.

The deadline for submitting an application is March 22, 2021.

The school corporation is in Westfield, Indiana in western Hamilton County. The city’s current population is approximately 45,000 and is increasing more than 5% annually ranking it among the fastest growing areas in Indiana. In 2019, the city earned numerous awards including Best Places to Live in Indiana for Families (WalletHub), Indiana Best Cities to Live in America (Chamber of Commerce) and Safest Cities in Indiana (The Home Security Advisor).  The community is 20 miles north of downtown Indianapolis.  Chicago, Cincinnati, and Louisville are all within a 2.5-hour drive or a short flight from Indianapolis International Airport which is less than a 40-minute commute from Westfield.

The vision of Westfield Washington Schools is to be an exemplary learning organization focused on collaboration, innovation, and continuous growth for all.  Instruction provided by highly qualified educators has resulted in the school corporation earning an overall letter grade of an A, based on state test passing rates, student growth year over year, graduation rate, and college and career readiness. Student achievement is notably above state averages on all meaningful measures of academic performance.  WWS’s student success is reflective of an intentional focus on curriculum, instruction, and alignment over the last several years.  Westfield High School was designated as one of the top ten schools in Indiana and ranked in the top 4% of schools in the nation by US News and Weekly Report.  Band, choir, and theater offer extensive performing arts options for students.  Competing in the highest class, the athletic teams are frequently ranked among the state’s best.  In 2020, the football team was the state runner-up.

Westfield offers an exceptional quality of life for the entire family.  Currently under construction, Grand Junction Plaza will showcase an amphitheater, fountain, play area, and serve as the anchor for the Midland Cultural District, Union Square, and the Historic Theatre District.  The 400-acre Grand Park Sports Campus features 26 baseball and softball diamonds, 31 multipurpose fields for soccer, football, and lacrosse, indoor athletic facilities, and the Pacers Athletic Center.  Westfield features 11 parks and over 93 miles of trails.  Numerous opportunities for watersports exist on nearby Morse, Geist, and Eagle Creek Reservoirs.  There are many cultural and entertainment venues in Westfield and in neighboring communities such as the nationally acclaimed Conner Prairie Living History Museum, the state-of-the-art 1,600 seat Palladium Center for the Performing Arts, Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center the largest amphitheater in the Midwest, Indianapolis Children’s Museum, which is the world’s largest, and the Indianapolis Zoo.  Six professional sports teams compete in Indianapolis and the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway is less than 30 miles from Westfield.

The successful candidate must possess and demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Central office and/or superintendent experience preferred;
  • Successful building level administrative experience and a minimum of three years of teaching experience is preferred;
