BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

This is entry-level work in custodial maintenance. The employee is learning work operations and procedures and use of tools and equipment in assigned work area. Attends classes to supplement on-the-job training. The work is performed under the close supervision of a higher level custodial employee or manager. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical arts; in high precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

DIMENSIONS:

An essential function of this position is the ability to work in person and physically report for work at the school.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

include the following. Attends classes or seminars for formal training. Assists higher level custodial employees in the performance of maintenance duties applicable to the school or office building to which assigned. Performs routine maintenance tasks alone as directed, such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and dusting; collecting and disposing of refuse; cleaning and replenishing supplies. Removes ice and snow from walkways, entrance ways, and steps. Cuts grass with push mower, lawn tractor, weed eater, and otherwise maintains grounds. Performs other duties as assigned.

SALARY: $13.41 p/h

FULL TIME/PART TIME: Temporary
