Superintendent, Capital School District
- Job Type
The Capital School District is located in the heart of Delaware. It contains both city and rural environments and thus has a unique place in the Delaware education system. Home to our capital city, Dover, the Capital School District plays an integral role in setting the pace for all school districts in the state. The City of Dover, founded in 1683, reflects the values of a rich historic and culturally diverse small town with the public services and quality of life usually found in much larger locations. A great place to live, work, and play; halfway between New York and Washington, and within a few hours of one-third of the nation’s population; Dover offers residents and businesses low property taxes, no sales tax, world class health care, four institutions of higher education, and great public schools.
The Capital School District serves approximately 6,300 students and operates twelve (12) schools at fifteen (15) distinct locations. At the elementary level, there are seven (7) K-4 schools with three (3) currently housing pre-school programs and two (2) that house intensive learning centers for students with significant disabilities. At the secondary level, one school operates with grades 5-6, one school operates with grades 7-8, and there is one High School. In addition to the traditional schools and student populations who live within the Capital School District, the District also operates two County-wide Programs.
The Board of Education is looking for a strong Superintendent who will continue the wonderful programs that exist in the District, as well as guide the community in preparing students for the future. The salary will be competitive with the other top districts in the region. Interviews will begin in April with the new Superintendent to start on July 1, 2021.
