Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), the nation’s 11th largest school division, is seeking a proven leader to serve as the Assistant Superintendent of the Department of Instructional Services.

The Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services leads and manages curriculum and instruction from pre-K to Adult Education.  The Department of Instructional Services is responsible for almost all aspects of the division’s comprehensive academic program.  Academics are at the core of Fairfax County Schools, where the primary goal is having all students achieve their full academic potential by the time they graduate.   The position of Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services provides a rare opportunity for an exceptional leader to impact teaching and learning across a wide array of programs and settings, as part of a team of highly skilled, knowledgeable and dedicated

professionals.

Qualifications: Postgraduate Professional License (doctorate preferred) in school  administration or related field with endorsements in curriculum and/or administrative fields, plus eight years of progressively more responsible experience in curriculum development and instruction, adult and community education, professional technical  studies, and appropriate supervisory and/or administrative endorsements. Knowledge of the principles and practices of school administration and of current educational trends; knowledge of the methods, materials, procedures, and practices in the field of instructional program administration; and knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to instructional programs and curriculum development.
