The Custodial Services Technician performs a variety of tasks to ensure a clean and safe school environment. Conducts frequent inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards are maintained. Coordinates work with contractors and ensures supplies and other materials and equipment are available to carry out work assignments. Reports inspection findings to the Custodial Specialist, Maintenance Supervisor, or the Maintenance Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Conduct frequent inspections of buildings for discrepancies in cleanliness, sanitation, energy conservation, indoor air quality, maintenance, and safety.

• Assists in the development and presentation of custodial related training techniques and methods. Serves as one of the primary sources of technical know-how for cleaning techniques, methods, equipment, and chemicals.

• Prepares and distributes inspection reports to appropriate parties.
Identifies/recommends opportunities for improvement in building cleaning, maintenance and other environmental related issues.

• Assists in ongoing testing of custodial equipment, chemicals, and supplies.

• Meets with Principal or other administrative staff to discuss work request and custodial staffing issues. Meets with contractors performing cleaning services to review and coordinate work.

• Conducts routine building inspections and reports results to facilities management staff and cleaning contractors.

• Ensures that cleaning contractors are following Custodial Services Solicitation requirements. Monitors availability of cleaning supplies, equipment and other materials.

• Serves on custodian interview panels. Ensures that all cleaning contractors are scheduled and processed for badges and keys.

• Trains custodial staff to ensure best practices are followed in accordance with APS and industry standards.

• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

• Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated.

Requirements :

EDUCATION:

? High School Diploma or GED required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

? Valid Georgia driver's license; must comply with Transportation Regulation EDC-R.

? Approved Cleaning Certification from an accredited organization such as Registered Executive Housekeeper (R.E.H.), through International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA) or similar certification.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

? 2 years' experience in the custodial services industry

Salary Grade: 118

Salary Range: FY'20 APS Salary Schedule (All Positions)
