Position Title: Part Time Speech Language Pathologist

F.T.E: .5 (16-20 hours/week)

Location: Chicago, IL

Reports To: Director of Special Education

Start Date: February 2021

Position Description:

The role of a Distinctive Schools Lead Speech-Language Pathologist is a multifaceted one that includes the provision of diagnostic and therapeutic services to students, collaboration and support to parents and school support staff and participation as a multidisciplinary team member. The Lead Speech-Language Pathologist will support DS Speech-Language Pathologists. This person will:

  • Supervise CFY candidates, student teachers and practicum students
  • Provide support to all DS speech-language pathologist
  • Provide therapeutic services to eligible students using a continuum of service delivery models
  • Provide diagnostic assessment services to students using the established eligibility and exit criteria
  • Develop and implement IEPs utilizing an educationally based model with goals aligned to educational standards
  • Participate in required Domain, Problem Solving, FIE and annual review meetings as needed
  • Provide consultation to teachers, parents and staff
  • Provide staff development to school staff and parents
  • Program and utilize augmentative/alternative communication systems
  • Participate in activities that support students' educational programs
  • Attend district, school, and departmental meetings
  • Facilitate departmental meetings
  • Daily progress notes
  • Weekly documentation of all services delivered via ChildServe
  • Quarterly report of student achievement (IEP report cards)
  • Monthly Statistics
  • Complete required supervisory activities with speech-language paraprofessional;
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Follow established departmental policies and procedures
  • Follow established attendance reporting procedures


Requirements:
  • Masters Degree
  • State Board of Education Student Services Personnel Licensure - with Speech Pathologist Endorsement
  • State Speech-Language Pathologist licensure
  • Bilingual Preferred
