The Opportunity
This role is an exciting opportunity to serve on a diverse and dynamic team committed to the audacious task of transforming public education in Providence Public Schools. Reporting to the Deputy Superintendent of Learning, the Director of Innovation (hereinafter Director) will play a critical role in meeting several objectives of the district's Turnaround Action Plan (TAP). The individual in this role will work to ensure students' access to rigorous, high-quality school models that will provide them with the confidence to succeed academically and continue on to postsecondary education opportunities. They will be responsible for conducting an annual cycle of data collection, analysis, and planning to identify opportunities to better meet the interests and needs of students, families, and educators through the transformation of schools that are persistently struggling.

The Candidate
Successful candidates must demonstrate a deep belief in the capacity of all students to achieve at high levels and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse set of partners and stakeholders to drive transformative change within and outside of an organization. This role does not require past experience in school planning and development but does require a track record of success working within government agencies, strong written and verbal communication skills, and exemplary analytical skills. To succeed in this role, you must have the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and manage a variety of diverse and complex tasks and systems while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a strategic framework and plan for school redesign so as to rapidly improve upon school quality for students and families, based on stakeholder engagement, a review of qualitative and quantitative data, the RIDE ESSA accountability system, and at the direction of the Executive PPSD and RIDE team;Coordinate and support the implementation of the school redesign process, including managing a project plan and overseeing the implementation of key milestones towards the completion of the redesign process and implementation of school-based redesign plans;Collaborate with the Network Superintendents and district leadership team to organize the district's comprehensive school improvement process, including ensuring federal and state expectations and requirements are fulfilled in school-level comprehensive school improvement and redesign plans;Support the work of the Network Superintendents to design and implement a system of graduated autonomy for schools and school leaders, including scaffolding support for those schools that are struggling and autonomy for those that are succeeding;Conduct family, school leader, and broader community engagement on an ongoing basis to gather input and build external support for the implementation and expansion of district redesign initiatives;Supervise the Extended Learning Coordinator and support their oversight of summer, afterschool, credit recovery, and home schooling programs;Design and implement the district's framework for supporting innovative programs;Related projects as necessary.

Salary Rate Range
$92,601 - $105,462

Administrator of Curriculum and Instruction PK-12

Qualifications
  • Experience leading change within a non-profit or government agency;Experience in school redesign or launching new school programs;At least 5 years of experience within an education organization;Experience working in or supporting urban public schoolsYou must complete the new hire compliance training prior to your first day of employmentBilingual PreferredSelected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check. Selected candidates cannot begin work until passing their background check.
