Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities :
  • Integrate social learning into the classroom and work to foster an identity-safe, empathetic, active learning community.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for five classes of ELA that articulate clear learning targets aligned with both the 2017 Massachusetts State ELA Standards and the APS ELA curriculum.
  • Communicate regularly with students and families and involve families as partners in their child’s education.
  • Collaborate with all team members, including but not limited to, special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel.
  • Assess students regularly and refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs


Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body.
  • Instructional strength in a remote learning environment
  • Knowledge of Common Core/MA 2017 Curriculum Framework for English Language Arts.
  • A strong work ethic and a growth mindset
  • Strong classroom community-building skills and restorative justice approaches to discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Massachusetts Teacher Certification in 9-12 English Language Arts required.
