General Statement of Duties:
The incumbent in this position represents the organization at a variety of construction projects for the purpose of observing the construction process for compliance with plans and specifications, maintains liaison between contractor, subcontractor, architect and affected school administration. This position is also responsible for the following:
- Reviews contractor's applications for payment and makes recommendations to the assigned Capital Project Manager;
- Inspects construction in progress to determine whether contractual specifications and requirements have been met;
- Observes work in progress on a daily basis;
- Makes field inspections on a daily basis or as necessary to clarify issues, questions or concerns;
- Trains and/or supervises employees in light construction projects;
- Performs overtime work and other duties as required.

Essential Duties:
- Reviews plans and specifications for the construction project and makes recommendations regarding details and specifications;
- Coordinates issues/needs between the construction group and school stake holders;
- Recommends a course of action due to changes of job conditions and job cost;
- Uses a personal computer to maintain project records and communications;
- Maintains liaison with contractor's representative, capital projects managers, facilities engineer, maintenance staff, and architectural technician regarding construction progress, materials and equipment used, and cost of construction;
- Keeps records of plans changes, finished schedules, man-hours, equipment used, weather conditions, meetings, etc.;
- Maintains records of inspection and prepares periodic reports;
- Self-auditing safety practices;
- Performs other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school with five years' supervisory experience in general building construction (additional experience in various building systems construction desirable). Extensive knowledge of methods and practices involved in construction, building systems, and site development. Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and related contract documents. Ability to work with contractors, architects, engineers and staff (including school staff), parents, and others and communicates effectively (orally and in writing). Provides input during project design, and feedback after a project is completed related to building maintenance considerations and cost and construction detail improvements. Good physical condition required. Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License required. Ability to work at high altitudes using scaffolding, ladders, and adverse temperatures/weather, and undeveloped/existing terrain.

Additional Information:
This position will close on Friday, February 5, 2021. The minimum salary is $46,339.68/year or based on the internal promotion policy.
