Role Mission:  The Application Analyst elevates the level of service provided by the Data Services team by expanding the services to include application customization, utility tool development, and data integrity tools as well as developing and implementing project management standards into the team's processes. The Application Analyst will collaborate with the Data Services Manager to develop and standardize a project management framework to be implemented into all project requests. The Application Analyst will collaborate with department leaders to develop, implement, and document data processes. The Application Analyst will serve as the project manager for Data Services team projects and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction with the team's services.

 

 Accountabilities
80% of customization requests developed in-house
  • Provides application customization services to enhance the SIS by developing or modifying existing web customizations to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Develops tools to increase the efficiency of attaining and organizing data from state sponsored sites in order to satisfy state requirements and fulfill data service requests.
  • Collaborates with Data Analyst and Data Services Manager to develop analytical tools and models for a variety of data sets.
  • Collaborates with Data Services Manager to determine which project requests to complete in-house and when to contract out.
  • Develops data integrity tools and dashboards to track PEIMS data errors.
  • Develops automations for data processes to increase efficiency of operations across the organization.

 
95% of projects completed within estimated duration and within budget
  • Manages data services team projects by utilizing project management tools such as Wrike to ensure all projects are well documented and completed on schedule.
  • Collaborates with Data Services manager to develop and implement project management processes and templates to standardize the team's projects.
  • Collaborates with department leaders on projects requests involving the SIS by participating in project discovery, gathering requirements, and organizing meetings with the Data Services team.
  • Ensures 100% of project requests fulfill the project lifecycle at standards set by the Data Services Team.
  • Minimizes project scope creep and ensures completion within budget.

 
100% of student data processes are documented and tracked in a project management tool
  • Collaborates with Data Services Manager to standardize documentation for project requests and data processes.
  • Creates and maintains Data Services Team documentation of inter-department data processes and projects.
  • Collaborates with Data Services Manager to implement and maintain a hub for housing project, process, and team knowledge documentation.
  • Collaborates with data set experts to document critical data processes in the knowledge hub.
  • Collaborates with PEIMS Manager to document each major submission in a project framework.
  • Develops and maintains an SIS Data Calendar to track and ensure the completion of data set lifecycles by their required due dates

 
100% Data Accuracy measured by PEIMS State Submissions
  • Collaborates with PEIMS Manager and utilize data automation to reduce manual entry of data.
  • Collaborates with PEIMS Manager and Data Services Manager to ensure 100% of student data required for state submissions is imported into the SIS and is in a valid state according to state compliance and organizational standards.
  • Collaborates with PEIMS Manager and Data Services Manager to clean data in preparation for state submissions.
  • Collaborates with data set experts to build reporting tools such as dashboards to provide visibility, granularity, and to track data integrity progress.
  • Collaborates with data set experts and Data Services Manager to mass correct data errors to increase the efficiency of data integrity processes.
  • Collaborates with HRIS to develop processes that will enable them to ensure compliance with state policies regarding school operations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field required.
  • 2+ years of experience using a scripting language (such as python, java, pearl, etc.) to develop applications or tools that interact with web APIs
  • 1+ years of experience using web scripting languages and frameworks such as html, javascript, and angular.

 

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of SQL and T-SQL is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge or training on project management styles such as waterfall and agile.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with collaborators through a variety of communication channels.


Compensation:
Salaries for this role typically fall between $57,100 and $68,500, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
