    Job Description

    Position Overview
    Reporting to the Senior Director of Data and Analytics, the Student Information Systems Analyst is responsible for collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to ensure that our information systems and related educational technology platforms consistently meet a high standard of quality. The Student Information Systems Analyst also ensures that users at a variety of levels have the resources, knowledge and tools to navigate these systems effectively and fluidly. The Student Information Systems Analyst will focus on functions and systems linked to grading, credits, report cards, graduation plans and transcripts in a significant way.
    Key Responsibilities
    Data Systems & Data Policy Management
    • Work closely with the Regional Managing Director of Operations to co-manage our student information systems (SIS, currently PowerSchool), with a focus on functions related to grade books, credits, graduation plans, report cards and transcripts
    • Work closely with the Senior Director of Data and Analytics to manage and maintain key student data and various educational technology systems that integrate with our student information system (including Mosaic, Clever, Illuminate, DeansList, etc.)
    • Collaborate with our contracted Tech Support team and vendors to ensure working connections between systems and to set-up/maintain automatic and ad-hoc account provisioning
    • Audit information, correct errors, and build skill in users necessary to prevent future errors
    • Establish and document the policies, practices, protocols, and systems developed for the SIS in order to ensure consistent and accurate practices going forward (e.g., for the treatment of grades and report cards)
    Reporting
    • Coordinate with school teams and vendors to ensure that accurate, clear, and actionable report cards, data sheets, progress reports, and transcripts are produced and distributed in a timely manner
    • Support the management, development, and/or enhancement of key staff facing reports that support effective monitoring of grades and graduation plan progress
    Analysis
    • Monitor key metrics relating to grades, GPAs, credit acquisition and graduation progress and report significant changes or trends
    • Synthesize key findings in clear language tailored to the intended audience
    • Translate data into relevant insights and implications
    • Supports colleagues to interpret findings
    Training & Support
    • Train school leaders, teachers, office managers, and other school staff to efficiently use SIS functions and reporting tools that relate to grade books & grading, credits, graduation plans, report cards, and transcripts
    • Observe, interview, establish periodic meetings, and/or build relationships with key constituent groups (leaders, teachers, operations staff, parents, and students) to understand their experience, gather feedback and prioritize enhancements to systems function, reports, and training.
    • Prioritize and manage relevant support requests and communicate best practices and solutions to common challenges across school sites.
    • Develop reference tools and other resources to support ongoing training and professional development.

    Other Responsibilities

    Required Skills/Experience:
    • Proficiency in using Excel and/or Google Sheets formulas and pivot tables to manipulate, compile and analyze data
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze trends in data and communicate them clearly and meaningfully to a variety of stakeholders
    Preferred Skills/Experience (Candidates who don't possess these skills or experiences should be open to learning and growing in these areas quickly):
    • Familiarity with schools, school systems
    • Experience using Tableau, Tableau Prep, or other Business Intelligence (BI) tools to visualize data
    • Experience managing and auditing data quality as a database administrator
    • Experience writing and running SQL queries to manipulate data
    • Experience working with educational technology platforms
    • Experience using Student Information Systems (such as Powerschool) and/or Customer Relationship Management software (such as Salesforce)

    Compensation
    • Salary range is $60,000 - $75,000 and commensurate with experience
