SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

Oxford Public Schools, MA

The School Committee of Oxford, MA invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Superintendent of Schools.

 

The Town of Oxford, with a population of 12,200, is located in Worcester County, Massachusetts, approximately 11 miles south of Worcester, MA. The Oxford School District is a comprehensive Pre-K to 12 system serving approximately 1,458 students. The district comprises four schools: one PreK-Grade 1 elementary school, one Grades 2-4 elementary school, one middle school, and a high school. Oxford has a proud and well-deserved reputation for excellence in public education. It is the vision of the Oxford Public Schools that through implementation of best educational practices, utilizing technology, and rigorous curriculum, its students will lead and shape the future. The FY 2021 school district operating budget is $18 million which represents 50% of the town’s operating budget allocated to the schools.

 

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills, focus on academic excellence, and support every learner to achieve their full potential. This outstanding leader should have a record of successful administrative experience and the ability to collaborate with all stakeholders. Candidates should have strong experience in team building and a proven ability to develop a positive school climate. This dynamic leader must possess strong communication skills and demonstrate a commitment to being a visible presence in the schools. Qualified candidates must have successful school administrative experience combined with a background in teaching. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in strategic planning and subsequent implementation and oversight, and a strong understanding of school finance and budgets, contract negotiations (collective bargaining agreements), policy and Human Resources management. An advanced graduate degree is preferred and a master’s degree is required. A Massachusetts superintendent license or eligibility for license is necessary.

The Oxford School Committee is prepared to offer a contract with a regionally competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience, along with a generous benefits package.

The deadline for submitting applications is March 1, 2021, with preliminary interviews scheduled thereafter. The start date for this position is July 1, 2021.
