RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ability to recognize the learning differences, developmental milestones, and cognitive/effective characteristics of gifted students, and identify their related academic and social-emotional needs
Ability to design appropriate learning and performance modifications for individuals with gifts that enhance creativity, acceleration, depth and complexity in academic subject matter and specialized domains.
Be able to select, adapt, and use a repertoire of evidence-based instructional strategies to advance the learning of gifted and talented students.
Desire to extend and create new learning opportunities for gifted learners.
Knowledgeable in the identification process of talented and gifted learners under state and federal law.
Consults, as necessary, with colleagues, students, and parents to improve classroom experiences for gifted learners.Other duties as assigned by the school principal and/or Director of Pupil Services or their designee.

REMUNERATION: Based on Teacher Contract
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated successful experience teaching gifted learners.
Strong commitment toward gifted education.
Hold appropriate certification under Connecticut State Department of Education.
Certification in Special Education preferred but not required.
