    Mount Carmel High School is Chicago's premier Catholic college preparatory school for young men.     Position Summary

    The President serves as Chief Executive Officer of Mount Carmel High School with authority for decisions affecting the overall organization and operation of the institution.

    Responsibilities

    Strategic Planning
    • Provides vision, strategic direction, management, and leadership for Mount Carmel to sustain the School's mission
    • Ensure strategic plans are aligned with the culture, values, and mission of the organization
    • Generate departmental plans to meet this overall goal (Academic, Athletic, Financial, Marketing, Development, Ministry, Facility Operations, Human Resources)
    • Ensure an effective management structure is in place to carry out the stated strategic plans.

    Community Relations & Advocacy
    • Serves as the leading advocate/spokesperson for Mount Carmel, both internally and externally
    • Represents Mount Carmel at religious, civic, academic, and other public functions to elevate the school's community profile.
    • Develop strong relationships with the Archdiocese and Archdiocese high school
    • Develops and maintains positive and effective relationships with board members, parents, alumni, donors, community leaders and other stakeholders
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with feeder schools and principals

    Fund Raising and Volunteer Support
    • Articulates the importance of the School's mission and participates in soliciting donations as appropriate
    • Oversees the development department and a comprehensive fund development strategy of major gifts, annual fund, corporate, foundation and planned gifts
    • Provides support and direction to the organization's alumni and parent programs

    Finances
    • Open and complete transparency of essential financial and operational information to the Board of Directors
    • Oversee monthly financial operational reviews to ensure each department is maintaining proper budget control
    • After consultation with the CFO, Human Resources, and the Finance Operations committee, recommends approval to the Board of Directors for changes to tuition, salary scale, benefits, and the annual school budget
    • In consultation with VP for Operations, assures adequate maintenance of the physical plant through implementation of capital projects and other projects
    • Is an ex-officio member of the Mount Carmel Educational Foundation

    Management and Development
    • Develops and maintains an organizational culture that ensures high standards of quality management and integrity of operations.
    • Fosters a positive and supportive work environment that attracts, retains and motivates faculty and staff.
    • Hires, mentors, leads, and counsels direct reports regarding short and long-term performance expectations. Supports job growth and career development.

    Education and Experience
    • Master of Education or Business Administration or equivalent experience
    • Minimum of 10 years leadership experience in an academic, nonprofit or business setting
    • Committed to Catholic education and the Carmelite Charism of prayer, community, and service
    • Fundraising experience with a track record of engaging alumni and other supporters

    Compensation

    The projected compensation range for the chosen candidate will be competitive and in accordance with the background and experience of the candidate. Mount Carmel offers healthcare benefits and retirement plan contributions.
