TITLE: DIRECTOR of DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION
JOB STATUS: ADMINISTRATOR - REGULAR/FULL-TIME
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, TEACHING & LEARNING
DEPARTMENT: ACADEMICS AND STUDENT LEARNING
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide leadership in the on-going focus on diversity, equity and inclusion; identify, develop, implement, and
evaluate provisions of professional development, resources pertaining to curriculum, assessment and instructional
programs in the district. Assist the Executive Director, Teaching & Learning in working with the Board,
administrative team, staff, parents, community groups, and professional organizations. Implement and maintain
excellent educational programs to fulfill the mission and vision of the Dublin City School District.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university
● Two to four years previous experience in the field of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and/or commensurate
experience in school administration
● Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding in building rapport and trust with students, families and
communities of diverse backgrounds
● Demonstrated leadership and success stewarding an inclusive, culturally responsive school community
● Prior and recent experience developing and implementing programming for students related to diversity, equity,
inclusion, access and social justice
● Knowledge of current trends relating to diversity, inclusion, access and social justice within schools
● Be an agent for growth who is passionate about the power of diversity, equity and inclusion
● Ability to inspire open, productive and challenging conversations centered on diversity, equity and inclusion
● Ability to build consensus and design processes that are transparent, clear and efficient
● Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find
appropriate

● Ability to analyze test scores and determine appropriate changes to the curriculum to correct deficiencies
● Create and implement professional development opportunities

● Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
● Champions the improvement of the educational experience for Dublin City Schools’ students of color and
underrepresented cultural groups.
● Helps to build an environment that promotes and facilitates the success of historically underrepresented
students and adults with a special focus on the issues, needs, and concerns of students of color.
● Assists in the recruitment and onboarding of minority staff members throughout the district.
● Proactively works with minority staff members to increase staff retention and sense of belonging within the
Dublin City School district
● Coordinate and implement district public relations effort as it relates to equity and inclusion
● Assist in the formulation of a diversity, equity and inclusion philosophy and objectives for the instructional
program
● Keep abreast of developments in curriculum, instructional practices and resources and determine their
appropriateness for inclusion in the district’s educational program
● Direct interpretation of the curriculum to the Board, the administrators, the staff, and the general public. Study,
evaluate, and recommend adoption of new resources. Provide teachers with counsel and assistance toward the
solution of problems
● Evaluates data to propose gap closing measures
● Conduct classroom and district equity audits and ensure allocation of resources to meet students’ needs
● Maintain active participation with educational leaders in equity and inclusion at the state, regional, and national
level
● Represent the district at local, state, and regional activities/committees upon the request of the superintendent
● Initiate, coordinate, and monitor educational reform and instruction in regular classroom
● Communicate with the public, the Board, and staff on school improvement efforts
● Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, i.e., student testing information.
● Is responsible for obtaining, writing, and coordinating diversity-related District grants
● Creates and implements professional development in collaboration with other departments (i.e. - Teaching and
Learning; Student Services Divisions) for staff
● Attend meetings and in-services as required
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Serve as a consultant/facilitator for staff in-service educational materials
● Recommend policy appropriate to assigned areas
● Attends and prepares reports for the Board of Education as needed
● Plan and schedule for district diversity committee
● Plan and schedule grant-related special events
● Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
● Attend meetings and conferences designed to enhance professional qualifications
● Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Teaching & Learning and/or board of education
● Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human
beings
● Instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
● Ensures the safety of students
● Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgement.
● Maintain confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
● Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents
● Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
● Occasional exposure to bodily fluids
● Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions (i.e., being prepared to report to work on all
scheduled days, including calamity days)
● Occasional interaction among unruly children
● Occasional travel
● Occasional evening/weekend work; e.g., committee meetings, etc.
● Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch,
climb, kneel, and stoop
● Frequent repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing, calculator, writing
