  • JOB TITLE: Grants Coordinator/Grants Accountant
    LOCATION: Lower Campus
    WORK YEAR: 260 work days
    SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Work hours may be determined by manager and employee.
    WORK STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
    REPORTS TO: Chief Finance Officer

    POSITION SUMMARY: Support and oversee all district grants and general fund categoricals. Coordinate the full lifecycle of grants from their conception and initiation to their planning, execution, performance/monitoring, and closure.
    Assist with identifying grant funds that meet the educational and operational needs of the individual school sites and the district. Coordinate/provide support to grant sponsors during grant applications. Provide clear communication to all stakeholders of grant objectives, rules and regulations, allowable expenses, and timelines. Monitor grant transactions, provide progress/budget reports, and process monthly Requests for Funds (RFFs). Close out grants at year end.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Responsible for all aspects of grant accounting including proper coding of expenditures, balancing of accounts, funds request to CDE and other necessary reporting and accounting
    • Attend annual meetings, webinars, and trainings for grants, and disseminate information to stakeholders
    • Develop budget and spending plans with stakeholders in accordance with each grant's requirements
    • Keep relevant stakeholders informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables, thereby ensuring smooth completion of grant objectives
    • Provide detailed reports to the grant stakeholders around the progress of each grant
    • Monitor grant spending to ensure grants stay within budget and are fully expended by the end of their life
    • Monitor paperwork and other related documents connected with grant-funded programs
    • Provide training to the new staff on grants management and reporting requirements
    • Identify weaknesses and develop strategies to optimize the grants administration process
    • Assist with budget and audit preparation
    • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    Required
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
    • Strong project management skills
    • Three to five years of experience with overseeing and managing grants and grants accounting
    • Strong computer and Excel skills
    • Demonstrates competence in the ability to use independent judgement and discretion around accounting matters

    Preferred
    • Governmental accounting experience
    • Experience with Infinite Visions software
    • Bilingual Spanish/English desirable

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions required the following physical demands: some lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling: and signification fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. This job is performed in generally a clean and healthy environment.

    CLEARANCE:
    Must clear background check through Colorado Department of Human Services in addition to an online Records check and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

    SALARY:
    Salary placement is on Class 6 of the Classified Exempt salary schedule and is between $58,406 - $65,104 based upon previous related experience. Highest initial step placement is step 5. Current Board approved salary schedule is available for review on our district website at http://www.ssd2.org/SalarySchedules.aspx.

    Please note: This is an at-will position with the Sheridan School District. The annual salary for this position will be determined by number of hours scheduled to work each day and number of days scheduled to work each year. The computed annual salary will be spread out in equal payments over 12 months. Sheridan School District employees are paid once a month on the 1st working day of the month that is not a weekend day or holiday.

    BENEFITS:
    Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible to obtain district health benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and supplemental benefits. Positions that qualify for health benefits also qualify for leave which could include vacation and daily leave to be determined by the position and number of days assigned. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by state statute to contribute 10% of salary on a pre-tax basis to PERA and the District contributes 20.9% in addition to employee contribution.
