Position S ummary...

As a Senior Data Analyst within the Reporting and Data Analytics team, your primary role is turning data into actionable information for use within Researc h and other internal NWEA teams , and for use by NWEA's external partners.

For this position, we are seeking flexible detail-oriented individuals with experience in education research, data modeling, statistical analysis, and business intelligence who are willing to take on a variety of tasks as we grow our Reporting and Data Analytics team. The desired candidate will be passionate about working with data and providing insight to educators, researchers, and others through their report designs and analyses . Responsibilities will include data-gathering and preparation, data analysis, re porting and data visualization development, and helping stakeholders realize the power of information.
Responsibilities...

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Filter and "clean" data, and review existing reports, dashboards, and performance indicators to modify, enhance, and develop new reports.
  • Design and plan dashboards and report layouts with the use of visualization tools, such as Tableau , R-shiny, Power BI, and other appropriate platforms.
  • Turn data into realistic, achievable recommendations and clearly communicate those to users, including executive management.
  • Help stakeholders interpret and understand data in reports and how to apply them in making business decisions.
  • Assist in efforts to anticipate new reporting tools and methodologies that can help accelerate the work of the research team .
  • Communicate effectively with team members to gather reporting requirements, prioritize work, find answers to questions, and troubleshoot issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the entire organization.
Skills and A bilities...

  • Experience developing data models, database design and development and data mining techniques using SQL .
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
  • Knowledge and experience using statistical data packages like R, SAS, SPSS and STATA.
  • K nowledge and experience with reporting packages such as Tableau , R-shiny, Looker, Power BI, Quick Sights, Domo, or others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation and desire to learn.
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of processes and procedures, and recommend improvements.
  • Ability to advocate ideas and to objectively participate in design critiques.
  • Ability to organize time effectively, determine priorities, and move work forward
  • Ability to work as a team, as well as work independently
  • Good problem solving (error detection, root cause analysis, error correction), conceptual, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Must be able to perform the physical and intellectual requirements of the role, with or without accommodation

Education and E xperience...

  • B achelor's or Advanced degree in an appropriate field.
  • At least 5 years' experience in business analysis, data analysis, and report development , ideally within the field of education.
  • Expert knowledge of business intelligence and advanced analytic tools and techniques, relational databases, knowledge of automated reporting tools, extensive experience with statistical analysis tools, and SQL.
  • Expertise in the design, development and/or maintenance of reporting systems and databases.
  • Expert knowledge of analytical tools and techniques to investigate data trends, issues, and to draw conclusions with the data.
