As part of our Professional Learning Design team, you'll play a key role in creating best-in-class learning experiences for K-12 educators.

We're looking for a Designer who is comfortable exploring different methods and modalities to get engaging, effective, just-in-time resources to educators. The ideal candidate is a big-picture thinker who is also comfortable working in the details. You will execute pitch-perfect content, whether written, illustrated, or time-based (video, screencast, animation, or eLearning) across face-to-face, blended, and self-directed learning experiences. While thriving on creative independence, you will also balance the needs of internal stakeholders, including Professional Learning content writers, instructional designers, consultants, UX researchers, UX designers, and other subject matter experts.

The right person for this role will be talented in using data and user research to inform designs. You should be comfortable deploying a wide variety of light prototyping techniques and running quick experiments to test your assumptions. As part of long-term strategy, you will help establish best practices and document standards and guidelines that can be used by others. Responsibilities ...

  1. Use Design Thinking and Human-Centered Design approaches to create engaging experiences for teachers, administrators, students, and families

a) Develop project plans that are focused on rapid prototyping, user feedback, and iteration
b) Conduct data analysis and user research to uncover pain points and areas of need
c) Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate insights and identify the highest-value opportunity areas
d) Ensure that a broad range of perspectives and abilities are represented in research and design with commitment to diversity, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility

  1. Explore creative and innovative ideas; bring a fresh and media-savvy approach to professional learning design

a) Design and develop multimedia experiences where language, visuals, and interactions work in harmony and align with NWEA brand standards
b) Create eLearning storyboards, wireframes, and prototypes at various levels of fidelity
c) Produce short, casual videos as a one-stop-shop, including storyboarding, scriptwriting, filming, and editing
d) Design quick guides, infographics, checklists, lesson plans, and other ways to break down complex topics into easily digestible formats

Your Education and Experience ...

  • BA/BS degree in learning experience design, instructional design, graphic and digital design, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years' experience applying design thinking and human-centered design practices
  • 3+ years' experience designing learning experiences and/or multi-modal communications
  • Advanced InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop skills
  • Video and audio editing skills (Adobe Premier, Adobe Audition, Camtasia, or similar)
  • Self-paced eLearning authoring tool skills (Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar)
  • EdTech or assessment industry experience a big plus
