NATURE OF POSITION:
Under the supervision of the Coordinator I - Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator, the Digital Media Technician will accommodate the efforts of effective public relations by assisting the Multimedia Communications Specialist in the creation of content used by the division to promote its interests. Emphasis is also placed on updating and monitoring individual school webpages. In addition, this position will assist the IT Department, specifically with the upkeep and repair of student and staff hardware.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the creation of graphic, photographic, and video content to enhance published information.
  • Assist in the production of video content that promotes district interests, including segments highlighting student and staff achievements.
  • Provide assistance for live broadcasts and tapings of district events.
  • Keep up to date with the latest graphics and video trends to maintain relevant imagery.
  • Update and monitor content on school websites.
  • Provide guidance and support for ITRTs, on a regular basis.
  • Assist in identifying the needs and working with departments/schools/offices to post web content in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical support for problems related to the website; design and upload pages onto the site; and integrate multimedia assists and application into the site.
  • Conduct content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information.
  • Comply with all district and school policies and regulations.
  • Ensure full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of student and staff devices, specifically student Chromebooks.
  • Assist in troubleshooting of devices.
  • Assist in the operation of the Student and Family Help Desk.
  • Assist with IT projects, including, but not limited to network cabling and patching, projector installation, and other tasks as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required/assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of website development and management, including HTML coding, as well as proficiency in using Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Knowledge of web site best practices including accessibility requirements.
  • Knowledge of a variety of editing tools including Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of lighting techniques and digital cameras and thorough understanding of how to use them is requested, but not required.
  • Ability to solve problems proactively and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions efficiently and accurately, thorough knowledge of English grammar, usage, and spelling.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university, with a concentration in Computer Science, Communications, Web Design/Development or related field required.
  • Two (2) years of successful experience in website management/development.

START DATE: As soon as possible after selection
SALARY / STIPEND: Pay Rate: $17.96 - $28.73 per hour, depending on experience. Danville School Board pays the employee cost, in full, for state-mandated life insurance; and in part for state retirement and health insurance. Other benefits include sick, personal, and annual (vacation) leave.
