General Statement of Duties:
Closing Date: This position closes on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
Performs supervisory duties in planning and directing the work of a group of human services program workers in the benefit programs in the Department of Social Services; does related work as required.

Essential Duties:
Extensive knowledge and experience in benefit programs (SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, Energy, etc). Demonstrate exceptional leadership while providing supervision of eligibility staff, and oversight of eligibility determinations and case management. Ensure that work is completed timely, accurately and meeting the requirements of federal and state policy mandates. Ensure that the department is meeting the needs of the community timely and error free.
Provide onboarding training to new staff, and ongoing training to all staff learning the multiple benefit programs to enhance their knowledge, skills and abilities. Engage staff and provide coaching and feedback. Participate in the hiring process for new staff, to include selecting and interviewing candidates and making recommendations for hiring; onboard and train new staff; Manage ongoing staff performance through the evaluation process, making recommendations for promotion and discipline as needed. Participate in agency workgroups to ensure accuracy and compliance with program requirements and promote the agency's strategic plan; represent the agency in local/state collaborations and other workgroups to support our clients and staff.

Assists citizens in the proper receipt of all services beneficial for themselves and their families, and serve as a conduit to between state and community partners to ensure citizens have their basic needs met. Manage challenging client situations and respond to community questions and concerns; gather and summarize statistical data related to program outcomes and community needs, and other statistics as required to support programmatic functions and needed changes

Mandatory participation on a Henrico County Shelter Team with assignments as designated by the County's Emergency Operations Center and department leadership staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a related bachelor's degree and four (4) years of professional-level human services program experience (e.g., public assistance or social services), preferably two (2) of which have been in a lead or supervisory capacity; OR, human services program experience may be substituted for the four-year bachelor's degree on an equal-time basis; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
