Do you have a passion for the arts and understand the importance of social-emotional learning (SEL) and know how to incorporate SEL into the teaching of the Arts?

Our Summit Street Elementary School is seeking a part-time (0.80 FTE) temporary Music/Arts teacher to join their team for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. Although music is desired, we are also willing to accept those interested in teaching other forms of creative expression including, but not limited to, art, drama, and/or mindfulness and movement.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- Hold (or be eligible to hold) a valid VT Educator license with a Music, Art, or Elementary Education endorsement. EWSD is committed to considering out-of-state candidates who are eligible to hold a Vermont educator license but do not yet hold a license in this state.
- Experience working with students grades K-3 preferred
- Understands the importance of social and emotional learning (SEL), and able to effectively integrate SEL in the teaching of the arts.
- Knowledge and/or experience using "backwards design" for lesson development, differentiated instruction to support all students, and formative assessment to provide student feedback and to adjust lesson delivery
- Dedication to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for students
- Excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to the success of ALL students, and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students
- The ability to effectively engage students
- Commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of knowledge and professional practice
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the student population being served and how demographic variables impact student achievement, and effectively uses this knowledge to effectively design and deliver instruction.
- Effective integrates transferable skills into the learning environment.
- Committed to a professional learning community culture preferred.
