We are currently seek a Certified Special Education Teacher who is comfortable working with children with disabilities and with the team, helping those students in a functional classroom. This unique position at our approved private school in West Chester, PA is year round Monday-Friday 8am-4pm.

The Devereux Center for Autism Research and Education Services (CARES) is an educational program licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that provides services to students, ages five to 21, diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. CARES provides an environment that focuses on teaching each student based on his or her unique strengths and needs. Programming is focused on increasing independence for each student.

What is Devereux doing to support and protect the health and safety of our staff during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Throughout the pandemic, Devereux has also supported the physical and financial health of our dedicated team members - our very own Healthcare Heroes. A variety of options have been implemented over time to support our staff, including the provision of:

  • Ongoing dedication bonuses, as well as sign-on bonuses, for direct support professionals (DSP) and other staff members
  • Flexible schedules, remote working where possible, and redeployment between programs and services
  • Hazard pay for those supporting quarantined individuals and shelter away services to frontline staff, when needed, to mitigate spread to families
  • Advancing paid time off and sick time; eliminating telemedicine costs over a period of time

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Special Education and Instructional I or II PA Certification required.

Experience working with special needs individuals preferred.
